Surfside Information
| Surfside is an oceanfront community of approximately 4,500 located just north of Miami in South Florida. It’s just minutes to all the glamour, glitz and attractions of the city, yet the town of Surfside itself has an attractive, residential feeling with a traditional “down town” shopping district. Surfside also maintains its’ own recreational facilities, including a unique oceanfront Community Center with public pools, beach area, auditorium and meeting rooms. The town of Surfside has become known as a family vacation destination, safe and less crowded than its’ neighbors, but offering a wide range of accommodations, restaurants, shopping, resort facilities and recreational activities. The city of Miami Beach is just to the south of Surfside and the village of Bal Harbour is to the north. More than thirty golf courses are in the immediate area, and other recreational opportunities include swimming, surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, deep-sea fishing, and wind surfing and biking. Nearby points of interest include Miami’s Art Deco District, the Miami Metro Zoo, Miami Museum of Science & Space Transit, Miami Seaquarium and the Everglades |

| South Florida, in the Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, Coral Gables area, has the only sub tropic climate in the United States, other than Hawaii. This region is exposed to daytime onshore breezes and enjoys comfortable temperatures during most of the year. Although the temperature is relatively moderate, the combination of the temperature and high humidity can be uncomfortable from May through September. However, cooling ocean breezes help to modify the climate. In fact, it actually has fewer very hot days each summer than does the northern part of the state. In wintertime, it is one of the warmest places in the U.S. mainland, with sunny days and balmy nights. Most rain falls in summer, with frequent but brief, heavy thunderstorms. Hurricane season is generally August through October, with most occurring in September. |
